لِأَنّي لاخشى مِن قَلاص اِبن مُحرِز
إذا وَخدت بِالدَوّ وَخُذ النَعائِم
For surely I fear Ibn Muhriz’s young she-camels
when they race across the waste with the ostriches’ swift stride;
يَرُعنَ بِطين القَومِ ايةَ رَوعَة
ضُحَيّا إِذا اِستَبلَنه غَير نائِم
they strike the clan’s stout man with such a fright
in broad morning, when they meet him wide awake.
