الا هل مِن البَين المفرِّق من بُدِّ

وَهل مِثل أَيّام بِمنقطع السَعد

Alas, is there any clearer separation than the separation of death?

Is there any fortune like the days that have passed, never to return?

تَمنيت أَيّامي أولئِكَ وَالمُنى

عَلى عَهد عاد ما تُعيد وَلا تبدي

I yearn for those days of old and for my wishes

In times gone by that will not come again or be renewed.
