- البحتري إذا فتشت نسبتهAl-Buhturi If You Examined His Lineage
- العرض ليس يصونه مال إذا
- المين عار وخير القول أصدقهThe Truthful Word is the Best
- إلى أبي أحمد أعملت راحلةTo My Father Ahmad I Made a Sandal
- أليس وجدي وفرط شوقيIs not my passion and longing's excess
- أما رجاء فأرجا ما أمرت بهI hope for what you have commanded
- إن أبا العيناء في كل ما
- إن أكن خبت أو حرمت فما ذا
- إن المفضل نقصه في نفسه
- إن خير الكلام ما ليس فيه
- إن زرت ساحته تبغي سماحتهIf You Visit His Courtyard, You Seek His Generosity
- إنما العيش والحياة لمن أصبح
- إني وتزييني بمدحي معشراA group I praise, adorning myself with my eulogy of them
- أيري علي مع الزمانDoes time pass me by,
- بدأت بإحسان وثنيت بالرضاI started with kindness, and ended with contentment
- بدر ليل بدر النقصFull Moon on the Wane
- بلغت مرادي واطمأنت بي النوى
- بلوت الناس في شرق وغرب
- بلوناهم واحدا واحداOne by One
- تحدثنا الأبصار ما في قلوبنا
- تكلم عما في الصدور عيونناOur eyes speak of what is in our hearts
- تلك الديار لو أنها تتكلم
- جعلت فداك قد أمسى حماري
- جعلت فداك قد أنسيت ذكري
- حبيبي حبيب يكتم الناس أنهMy Beloved Is a Secret Lover
- حجاب فإن تبدوا فللدمع جولةVeil, for if you appear, tears will roam
- حجبت وقد كنت لا أحجبI concealed when I used to be unconcealed
- حجبت وقد يستسر الهلالYou've veiled, while the crescent may still hide,
- حسن الفتى أن يكون ذا حسبThe Handsome Youth Ought to Be of Good Lineage
- خلائقه للمكرمات مناسبHis nature is well-suited to noble deeds
- دموع فيضهن مع الدماء
- ذهبت على صب شكا ألم الهوىI have gone complaining of the pain of love at dawn
- رأيت أبا عيسى وقد ذكر القرىI saw Abu Eisa and he mentioned the villages
- ردني بالذل حاجبهMy Friend's Frown Humbled Me
- ركبت الصبا حتى إذا ما ونى الصباYouth Rode On Until Youth Was Gone
- سجع أبي العيناء من رجعهThe Eyes' Lament Upon His Return
- سرى طيف ليلى موهنا فسرى صبريLeil's Phantom Wandered, So My Patience Wandered
- سقى سر من رأى وسكانهاSaqa sirrun min ra'a wasakanaha
- سلام على الإسلام فهو مودع
- شكرت عليا بره وبلاءه
- شية كأن الشمس فيها أشرقتA steed as though the sun therein did rise
- صرت أدعوك من وراء حجابI yearn for you from behind a veil
- طربت إلى حوراء آلفة الخدر
- عتابا كأيام الحياة أعدهI count reproach as the days of life itself
- عرفت بالسلام عين الرقيتI Want to Know Your Eyes of Dignity
- فلما تصفحت أشعاره
- قالت لقيت الذي لم يلقه أحدShe said, "You met the one no one has met before"
- قد بعثنا إليك منه بدرج
- قد قتلناك بالهجاء ولكنWe Killed You with Satire
- قد كشفناك يا سعيد فما كنت
- قد كنت أصدق في وعدي فصيرني
- قل للخليفة يا ابن عم محمدSay to the Caliph, O Cousin of Muhammad
- كالبيت فيه لزائريه
- كأن عليا وأبناءه
- كتبت إلى الحبيب بكسر عينيI wrote to the beloved with the breaking of my eyes
- كلهم سيد فمن تلق منهمAll of Them are Masters so From Whom Should One Learn

- وما الشعر إلا السيف ينبو وحدهAnd Poetry is Nothing But a Sword that Sings Alone
- وما يساوي درهما واحداAnd what equals a single dirham
- ومجلس لذة لم نقو فيهAnd a council of pleasure in which we did not say
- ومطلعة بالليل وهي تعلنيAnd a night bloomer raising me up
- وملاحظ سرق السلام بطرفه
- ومني ومنها اثنان قلب ومقلة
- ويوم كنار الشوق في قلب عاشقOn The Day of Yearning Like Embers in a Lover's Heart
- يا أبا الصقر رب رد جميل
- يا سعد لم أذخر عليك مودةYa Sa'd lam adhkhur 'alayka mawaddah
- يا سيدا لما يزلMy Friend
- يا من كلفت بحبهYou Who I Was Tasked to Love
- يا منزلا لعب الزمان بأهلهYa manzilan la'iba alzaman bi'ahlihi

- يشترك العالم في ذمه
- يعدون لي مالا فهم يحسدوننيThey Prepare Money for Me, For They Envy Me
- يقول العاذلات تسل عنهاThe Lovelorn Say "Ask About Her"
- يكلمها طرفي فتومي بطرفهاMy Eyes Speak to Her, and She Gestures Back with a Glance
