1. عِتاباً كَأَيّامِ الحَياةِ أَعُدُّهُ

    لِأَلقى بِهِ بَدرَ السَماءِ إِذا حَضَر

    I count reproach as the days of life itself

    So I may cast it at the full moon when it rises

  2. فَإِن أَخَذَت عَيني مَحاسِنَ وَجهِهِ

    دُهشتُ لِما أَلقى فَيملكُني الحَصَر

    For if the beauty of its face takes my eyes

    I am confounded by what I encounter and am left speechless
