لَيسَ المُروءَةُ في الثِيابِ وَبطنَة

إِنَّ المُروءَةُ في نَدىً وَصَلاحِ

Honour's not in clothes or in a lining

Honour is in generosity and righteousness

وَتَرى الفَتى رَثَّ الثِيابِ وَهَمُّهُ

طَلَبُ المَكارِمِ في تُقىً وَصَلاحِ

And you see the young man in ragged clothes

Seeking virtues in piety and righteousness
