يلومني في لحاظ الطرف غيركم

فقدت الهوى وعدمت الودودا
I have lost passion and lacked intimacy
يا ترب ضمنك الممات مسودا
O soil that death has darkened and decayed
وابأبي من لست أنساه
By my father I will not forget him
كري الملام فباغي اللوم مخصوم
Blame me, for I am to blame for distress
سقى الله أطلالا رعيت بها الصبا
God watered ruins I grazed my youth in
ألذ وأشفى لنا من طرب
Sweeter and more healing for us than the rapture of music,
أثم وشمس الحسن حلت قناعها
The sun of beauty has unveiled her face to you
يا من أريح من الفراق
O you who I find solace from separation in
ضحك الزمان إلي عن إعتاب
Time laughed at me, absolving my reproach,
ومن مليح الذنوب إن ذكرت
When the sweet sins, if mentioned,
ولما رأيت الدهر يخطب خطبة
When I saw time delivering a speech
يا رب زور منعم مزاره
O Lord of a blessed, generous shrine
ومحجب نبهته
I woke the veiled one
وقهوة يترامى
With coffee whose radiance
كل داع سواي غير مجاب
Every suitor but I is unsuccessful,
أيطلب كيدي من يهون كياده
Does he who finds my schemes easy seek to kindle
طربت إلى عمي وعاودني ذكري
I yearned for my uncle, and memories of him returned to me,
بادر بلهوك ليلة بدرية
Indulge in your leisure on a moonlit night
وليل كأن الدجن يجري ببدره
A night with a moon so bright, it's as if lamps illuminate its brightness
أمغنية مع الظلم الخطوب
A song in the face of adversity
ومما شجاني أنه حين جاءني
Among what has saddened me is when he came to me
هلا رددت على العدو الكاشح
Why did you not respond to the hostile enemy,
أفادني ودك بعد كد
Your friendship has helped me after hardship
نيران هجري ليس تخمد
The fires of your abandonment do not die down
أعذر لفظ المحب بالعذر
The lover's words are excused for their excess
وقالوا اصطبر فالصبر شيء عدمته
They said: "Be patient", but patience is something I lack
حبيب ليس ينصفني
A beloved who does not do me justice
لو أن ذا حسب نال السماء به
If merit could make one reach the sky
قد ضاع فيك صبري
My patience in you is lost
تأوبني طارق الهم نصبا
The plunderer of worries has made me his victim
يا ملزمي بالذنب ما لم أفعل
O He who holds me to account for what I have not done,
قض بالخمرة الوطر
أيا من خان مخبره
أأن قال لي صحبي تسل بغيرها
يوم أتى بديمة هطالة
سقيا للذات وطيب
جدد البين كروبا
وناظر عن دعج
فديتك ما أظهر
اشرب غبوقا فالغرب قد نور
داو الخمار بخمره
ولعت ببيضاء شابت أسود الشعر
طلعت شمس عقار
سيدي أنت ومن لم
سقاني صفوا من سلاف كريقه
منحتك الود مني
وزق صريع قطيع اليدين
طاب عيشي برغم أنف العذول
لحاظه تطمع في نيله
