1. A song in the face of adversity
Washes away whatever sins it has committed

2. I am amazed at the twists of fate, so fickle
With its troubles and a life for me so muddled

3. It is as if fate seeks me out insistently
And my lot is to face constant adversity

4. Yet it eased some of what it had cast my way
Since my soul remains untouched by any impropriety

5. When I am not granted sound judgement
How could I know fate's hidden obscurities?
