1. O He who holds me to account for what I have not done,
And turns away from my pleading face,

2. Does not your beauty forbid you to see
One exalted in the darkness, other than the Exalted?

3. Caliph Ja'far ruled justly in his kingdom,
Yet over me in the kingdom of love he was not just.

4. A king whose fulfillment outstrips his pledge
And who gives freely, unasked.

5. A mighty God named him the All Powerful,
And through him the Most High and Sublime prevailed.

6. His pardon and gifts sustain the kings,
And thus may they live yet longer lives.
