- إذا أعجمت أطلال هند على البلى
- إذا حدت الريح عيس الحياIf the wind cuts, live life
- إذا سكنتم فقلبي دائم القلقIf You Live Then My Heart is Ever Restless
- إذا عزت صفاتك أن تراماIf your qualities were to walk gently
- إذا ما الغمام الجون أنجد صوبه
- إذا مت فادفني بوعساء سهلة
- إذا هجوتكم لم أخش سطوتكمWhen I criticize you, I do not fear your tyranny
- أراني منك يا كعب بن عمروArani Minka Ya Ka'b Bin 'Amr
- أرأيت طيف خيالها لما سرىAraftu tayf khiyalaha lamma sara
- أرأيت من داء الصبابة عائداDid you return from the torment of youth, and find
- أرقت لبرق كمتن الحسامArqat li-barqin ka-matni al-hisam
- استغفر الله القديم وعذ بهForgive Allah the Most Ancient and take refuge with Him
- أستغفر الله سري في الهوى علنI seek forgiveness from God, my secret love is public
- أستغفر الله لا فخر ولا شرفI seek Allah's forgiveness, neither pride nor honor
- أستغفر الله من تركي وإخلاليI seek God's forgiveness for my shortcomings and lapses
- أسرفت في أنس الغريب وبرهExcess in the Stranger's Companionship and Piety
- أظن نسيم الريح من حيث أرسلاI think the soft breeze from where it was sent
- أعرفت من عبق النسيم الفائحI smell the scented breeze
- أغنا جزيل نداك يا ابن مقلد

- أما فؤادي فقد رقت جوانحه
- آمبيحها فضل الأزمة قصر
- أملالة ضيعت ودي بعدماAmalah ḍayi‘at wadī ba‘damā
- إن كان ليلي طويلا بعد بينكمIf the night is long after between you
