ما عَلى العُدّالِ لَو نَظَروا

ثُمَّ لاموا فيكَ وَاِعتَذَروا

If the virtuous gazed upon you,

Then blamed you and apologized,

قَمَرٌ ضَلَّ الأَنامُ بِهِ

ما بِهَذا يُعرَفُ القَمَرُ

You are a moon the people went astray by,

The moon is not known by this.
