رَمَت بِالحِمى أَبصارَها مُطمَئِنَّةً
فَلَمّا بَدَت نَجدٌ وَهَبَّت جَنوبُها
She cast her eyes towards the sanctuary in tranquility
But when Nejd appeared with its blowing south wind
بَخِلنا عَلَيها بِالبُرى فَتَقَطَّعَت
وَقَلَّ لِنَجدٍ لَو تَقَرَّت قُلوبُها
We were stingy towards her with the land, so she was broken
And it was said to Nejd, if only her hearts could settle
