خضاخضة بخضيع السيول

وكأنما تبع الفوارس أرنبا

وقد حنكتني السن واشتد جانبي

يا ضمر هل نلناكم بدمائنا

من فوفها محضر سهل وباطنها

فإن تك جاريت الظلال فربما

الأعللاني قبل نوح النوادب

يارب لطمة غدر قد سخنت بها

O Lord, a slap of betrayal has inflamed me

قومي سلامان إما كنت سائلة

My people, O Salman, whether you were questioning

لولا مالك وأبوأنيس

Were it not for Malik and Abu Anis

سألت فلم تكلمني الرسوم

I asked but the inscriptions did not speak to me

رداهم على عشرين بالجر سبعة

Seven drove back twenty in battle,

صباحك واسلمي عنا أماما

فإما تقظ سمراء تمنع زائدا

إن تذكروا يوم القري فإنه

وإني لمن إرعادكم وبروقكم

وإن السلم زائدة نواه

أبلغ أميمة عوض أمسي بزنا

يا جار ذئبة دعوة من أكلب

ألا هل أتى ذات الخواتم فرتي

إذا قل مالي ازددت في همتي غنى

إني امرؤ قد ألقح الحرب

ألا طرقت خيالة أم كرز

فننحرها ونخلطها بأخرى
