1. If you recall the day of Al-Qar, verily it
Brought many days of woe and sorrow unending.

2. For we assaulted with barely a fight,
Fleeing openly, the women our only defending.

3. And the day of Kara when we were put to flight,
The clan of Malik and steeds with cheeks a-bending.

4. And the day of Al-Arakat where we were late,
As the Sa'ra clan called, their fugitive herding.

5. While we at dawn feasted the living at Tinuma,
With spears overthrowing the valiant and wretched.

6. And the day of Sharoom when we left a band,
By the hillside with red camels their necks outstretching.

7. No disgraceful defeat has e'er put us to shame,
Except by our own acts we increased its upending.
