بشعرك يا محمد عزدين

واحسرتا من ذكر أيام الصبا

Alas for the memory of the days of youth!

لكل شيء إذا ما تم نقصان

For everything, when complete, has loss

أهلا بتين حسن المنظر

Roses of beauty bright

وناضر الخد في ألحاظه حور

Roses are in his cheeks, houris

الورد سلطان كل زهر

Roses are the sultan of all flowers

وهادية بليل في نهار

Tranquil at night in day's light

وباهر التصنيف مستغرب

His splendid classification is puzzling

بحياة ما ضمت عرى الأزرار

With a life that gathered the strands of buttons

وليل وصل عن من هاجر

The night of reunion was shorter

وعنب لفضة

Grapes of silver

وجدول كلما مر النسيم به

Whenever the breeze would pass by a brook

وبهار حكى كؤوس لجين

With the spring he told cups of wine

بحياة ما ضمت عرى الأزرار

With a life that held the strands of buttons,

يا سالب القلب مني عندما رمقا

O you who have taken my heart when it was on its last breath,

أطل في وجهه العذار

The bashfulness shows on his face

أما ترى حسن هلال الأفق

Do you not see the crescent moon's beauty on the horizon

سرى والحب أمر لا يرام

The secret of love is an uncontrollable affair,

ألثام شف عن ورد ند

Lips that unveiled a rosebud's blush,

وذي ظمإ لو كان يسقي لذمة

أطال ليلى الكمد

خليلي بالود الذي بيننا اجعلا

وأزرق اللون كلون السما

إذا أردت لو صف الاقحوان فقل

فتح الحب نوره فحسبنا

تفاحة كالمسك نفاحة

وبنت أيك غذاها الحسن فاختلست

وكتيبة بالدارعين كثيفة

عللاني بذكر تلك الليالي
