يا نديمي قم اصطبح

O my friend, arise and awaken

قدم البهار مع البنفسج فاشربن

The oregano arrived with the lilac so let us drink

وثلاثة لما اجتمعن بمجلس

And when the three of them gathered in the sitting place

وثلاثة لما اجتمعن بمجلسي أقررن

When three gathered in my abode

ألا حبذا السوسن الأزرق

Oh, how lovely is the blue lily

وذكي العرف لاقانا

The wise and gentle king sat

وسوسن راق مرآه ومخبره

A graceful lily, a mirror and informant,

أيا شقيقي إخاء

Oh my brotherly friend

مزة ماتت زمانا

A glimmer that died long ago

وروضة محفوفة

A garden enclosed

أصفر الخيري عندي

The bright-yellow one with me

ونرجس هب يرنو

A narcissus tilted its head

وأقحوان راقني نوره

With radiant fireflies surrounding me

يوم كأن سحابه

A day whose clouds

عباد يا خير الورى

O Ibad, the best of creation

قل لأبي جعفر المنتقى

Tell Abu Ja'far al-Muntaqi

ومهفهف غض الشباب منعم

The springtime of youth has declined, yet still it flows,

أيا ماجدا لم يزل جوده

O Majid, your generosity

قد جاءنا رائد الربيع

The herald of spring has come to us

حج الحجيج مني ففازوا بالمنى

The pilgrims performed Hajj from me, so they attained al-Mina

أرى في البهار النرجسي تلألؤا

I see in the narcissus garden a radiance

يا من تحلى به الفخ

O you who are adorned with charm

أهلا وسهلا بوفود الربيع

Welcome and greetings to the arrivals of spring

رب ليل طال لا صبح له

Lord of a long night with no dawn

يا حبذا النيلوفر الطالع

Oh how lovely the water lily raised up

يا زهر اللوز لقد فقت في

O blossom of almond, you have excelled in kindness and beauty, you are sublime

يا مالك السحر والبيان

O master of magic and eloquence

وجلنار بنوره يزهر

أيا ملك الأملك والسيد الذي

يا إماما في السبق يوم الرهان

وخميلة رقم الزمان أديمها

يا واحد الأدباء والشعراء

في النرجس الغض شبه لإخفاء به

قد هجر الأنس والسرور

يا واحد الأدباء غير مدافع
