يا قلب دع عنك الهوى قسراً

O heart, forcibly leave this passion

ذرا السعي في نيل العلا والفضائل

Cease striving to attain lofty virtues and merits

برزت للناس في قميص

يا ماطلاً لا يرى غليلي

O heedless one who cannot see my torment

قمر أعار الصبح حسن تبسم

The moon lent the dawn the beauty of its smile

لاموا عليك وما دروا

My friend, your words touch the heart.

دع العيس في طي الفلا تبلغ المدى

Let the young gazelle roam free in the meadows

تجلدت عنها في الشباب لعزة

أيحسن بعد ضنك حسن ظني

صدني بعد اقتراب وجفاني
