ربة الشعر طال هجري

O mistress of poetry, long has been my estrangement and patience

كان المشيب وكنت إن

When gray hairs appeared and I

عفت اليراع ساءمة وفرارا

I fled the pasture, weary and fleeing

يا مارج البحرين يلتقيان

O meeting place of the two seas,

وعصبة عصمتهم في صناعتهم

Their unity in their craft was a fortress,

ألبنان هذا أم جبال أسبانيا

Is this Lebanon or the mountains of Spain?

أبا مصر ومصدر نعمتيها

O father of Egypt, source of its bounty

بلاد العظام ليوث الصدام

The land of bones, lions of clash

سبعون حولا لقد مرت وما وجدت

ملوك الأنام قضاة الزمان

على عاتقيه رزايا الدهور
