يا لائمي كف عن لومي وعن عذلي

O you who blame me, stop blaming and reproaching me!

كتمت الهوى والحب بالقلب أملك

I concealed love and affection in my heart I possess

أنا حر لكن كرق لخود

I am free, yet a slave to my passion

كيف تحظا بمجدك الأوصياء

How the trustees attained your glory

عدني ودعني من زيارة بلقع

Call me back and bid me farewell from visiting Balqa’

فإن تخف في الوصف من إسراف

If you fear excess in description

هو الحب لا فيه معين ترجاه

It is love, in which there is no helper to hope for,

وليي علي حيث كنت وليه

My allegiance is to Ali wherever he may be

كم حازم ليس له مطمع

ذوات خال خدها مشرق

لا تكن قانعا من الدين بالدون

قلما فاخروا سواهم وحاشا
