الأمين العباسي

وإني لعَفُّ مشترك الغنى

I am one who spurns shared wealth,

ليس يزري السواد بالرجل الشهم

Blackness does not diminish the valorous man

ومن لم يزل عرضا للمنون

He who was always prone to error

أشعار عبد بني الحسحاس قمن له

The poems of Abd Bani Al-Haschas have a standing for him

أسد رابض حواليه أسد

A lion crouches, lions surround him

لا تحقرن امرأ من أن تكون له

Never scorn a man for having

سلام على من لم يطق عند بينه

Peace be upon him who could not speak when we parted

ردا علي الكأس إنكما

Return the cup to me; you do not know

رطلان لا أزداد فوقهما

Two ratls - I drink no more

أرى ماء وبي عطش شديد

I see water, and I am very thirsty,

لما رأيت الذنوب جلت

When I saw many sins being committed,

يعز علي ما لاقيت فيه

It grieves me, what you went through

صل من هويت ودع مقالة حاسد

Reconcile with your love and leave the words of the envious one

ألا لا أرى شيئا ألذ من السحق

Alas! I see nothing

أيها الركب ثوباه

O caravan don a garment

وباض الحب في قلبي

Love has nested in my heart

لها في لحظها لحظات حتف

Her glance has moments of deadly fate,

يا فتح يا فاتحا لبلوائي

O Opener, O You who opens my afflictions,

تفرقوا ودعوني

Leave me be, you gathering of friends

لا تفخرن عليك بعد بقية

Do not boast over me of what remains to you

إذا المرجي سرك إن تراه

If hope delights you, though you see him not,

وصف البدر حسن وجهك حتى

The full moon described your face's beauty until

لا ترفعن صوتك يا عبد الصمد

Do not raise your voice, O servant of the Eternal

مثنيت بأشجع الثقلين قلباً

My heart is paired with the most steadfast of burdens

والله يعلم ما أقول فإنه

And Allah knows what I say, for it is

ما يريد الناس من صبب

What do people want from a youth

يا نفس قد حق الحذر

O soul, caution is now a must

لخير إمام قام من خير عنصر

The best leader arose from the best lineage,

ما الحبُّ إلا قُبَلٌ

عشقت ظبياً رقيقاً

يا خير منتصف يهدى له الرشد

زعم العبد طاهر

ضربوا قرة عيني

ألا لا أرى شيئا ألذ من الوعد
