بشامة بن الغدير

ألا ترين وقد قطعتني قطعاً

Oh! Don't you see how you've cut me up in pieces

يا قومنا لا تسومونا التي كرهت

O people, do not force on us what we detest

أبلغ حباشة أني غير تاركه

Tell Habashah that I will not leave him

ولقد غضبت لخندف ولقيسها

I was angry for Khindif and his Qais

إن الخليط أجد البين فابتكروا

The mixture is most perfect when combined

إذا ما يهتدي لبي هداني

When my heart is guided, it guides me

قالت أمامة يوم برقة واسط

Ummamah said one day at Burqah in Wasit:

هجرت أمامة هجراً طويلا

You deserted Ummama with a long desertion

وجدت أبي فيهم وجدي كليهما

I found my father in them, and my grandfather

نحن الفوارس يوم الشعب ضاحية

We are the knights on the day the people were raging,

لمن الديار عفون بالجزع
