- ظعائن لا توفي بهن ظعائنZa'inun la tufil bihinna za'inun
- غلبت ملوك الأرض بالحزم والنهىI have conquered the kings of the earth with determination and prohibition
- فبات يجتاب شقارى كماSo he spent the night wandering among thorn bushes,
- فلا يدعني قومي لنصر عشيرتيMy People Shall Not Call Me to the Aid of My Tribe
- لعمرك إنني وأبا رياحFor your life! Abū Ḥiyāḍ and I
- هل عند غان لفؤادIs there a love who can heal a heartbroken heart
- وجاءت جيأل وأبو بنيهاThe she-camels came with their calves,
- وسار تعناه المبيت فلم يدعWeary of night's gloom, a traveller found no rest.
- وقد تخذت رجلي إلى جنب غرزها
- وللموت خير للفتى من حياتهFor the youth, death is better than his life
