ظَعائِنُ لا توفي بِهِنَّ ظَعائِنٌ

وَلا الثاقِباتُ مِن لُؤَيِّ بِنِ غالِبِ

The doe's eyes do not fulfill the doe's eyes,

Nor those that pierce, from the black core of Ibn Ghalib,

وَلا ثَعلَبِيّاتٌ حَلَلنَ عُباعِباً

وَلا أُسرَةُ القَعقاعِ مِن رَهطِ حاجِبِ

Nor fox-like cunning ones that solve tangled problems,

Nor family of the bald from the tribe of Hajib.
