- أقتيب قد قلنا غداة أتيتنا
- ألا ذهب الغزو المقرب للغنىAlas, the imminent invasion flees to wealth

- تنمر وشمر يا قتيب بن مسلمBullying and Tyranny, O Qutaibah bin Muslim
- عتبان قد كنت امرءا لي جانبRegrets, You Were Once a Man I Knew
- عتبت على سلم فلما فقدتهI blamed the ladder when I lost it,
- فلا ويمين الله لا عن جناية
- فمن ذا مبلغ فتيان قومي
- كانت خراسان أرضا إذ يزيد بها
- لعمرك ما حابيتني إذ بعثتنيFor your life, you never loved me when you sent me away
- لقد صبرت للذل أعواد منبرI have patiently borne much humiliation, O pulpit
- لو قيل للمجد حد عنهم وخالهم
- مررنا على سابور يوما فلم نجدWe passed by Sabur one day and found
- وباتت لهم منا بخرقان ليلةOver long night for them our night was longer
- وكنا قبل ملك بني سليمWe were before the reign of Bani Suleim
- وكنا نبكي من الباهليWe Were Crying From Joy
- ولقد علمت وأنت تعلمهYou're Dead and I Know It
- ولما رأينا الباهلي ابن مسلمWhen We Saw Al-Bahili Son of Muslim
- ولولا بنو ذهل لقربت منكمWithout the tribe of Dhahl, I would have been closer to you
- وما كان مذ كنا ولا كان قبلناNothing But the Title
- وما كنا نؤمل من أميرAnd We Did Not Hope for a Prince
- ومن مترب دعدعدت بالسيف ماله
