- دهش الفؤاد فكان أن يتفطّراThe heart was stunned, and so it came to break apart;
- سرور أزاح الهمّ والغمّ مذ بداJoy dispelled sorrow and grief from the moment it appeared,
- فرح الزمان فضاء بالأنوارTime rejoiced, then shone with lights,
- قف بالرفاعة ساعة يا حاديStop in Al-Rifa‘ah awhile, O camel-driver,
- لقد الجأتني دائرات الدوائرIndeed, the circling turns of misfortune have driven me
- مهلاً فهذا المنى قد جاء والوطرWait—for wishes and desire have now arrived,
- يا أحباباً نأوا عني فسالO beloved ones who went far from me, so there flowed
