- قلت له ورد بخديك، ذاI said to him, 'This is rose bloom on your cheeks.'
- لثمت بفي التفكر وجنتيهI kissed his cheeks with the mouth of contemplation.
- هممت أن أفكر في حسنهI intended to ponder his beauty;
- وإخوان بذلت لهم وداديAnd brothers to whom I gave my affection,
- وكأس مدامة في كف خشفAnd a cup of wine in a fawn’s palm,
