وكأْسِ مُدامةٍ في كَفِّ خُشِفٍ

رَخيم الدَّلِّ مَلْثوغِ الكلامِ

And a cup of wine in a fawn’s palm,

gentle in his coquetry, lisping in his speech,

حكَتْ بَهْرامَ إِذ ترك الثُّرَيّا

يساير في الدُّجى بدرَ التَّمامِ

resembled Bahrām when he left the Pleiades,

walking beside the full moon in the darkness.
