- أتتك المنايا من بلاد بعيدةDeath came for you from far-off lands,
- إذا هم هما لم ير الليل غمةWhen he sets his mind on a purpose, he finds the night no hindrance

- عفت أجلى من أهلها فقليبهاAjalā has faded, emptied of its people, and so has its well,
- عفت فردة من أهلها فجنابهاFardah lies desolate, bereft of its people, and its environs too,
- هل من معاشر غيركم أدعوهمAre there any clans besides you whom I may call upon?
