- إن تغيبوا عن العيون فأنتمThough you be absent from our eyes, still you are

- لقد سئمت حياتي العيش لولاMy life would surely have grown weary of living, were it not for
- لم يعرف الدهر قدري كنت بهTime did not know my worth while I was in it;
- نفسي الفداء لسائل وافانيMy soul be ransom for a questioner who came to me
- هي قذ وتوأم ورقيبThey are Qadh, Tawʾam, and Raqīb,
- يا أهل مصر رأيت أيديكمO people of Egypt, I have seen your hands
