والشمس حيرى خلف غيم عارض
The sun wanders lost behind passing clouds
وغزال لولا تميمة شعر
A gazelle, if not for a lock of hair
لولا تسلى بارتكاضي
If not for entertaining myself
يا صروف الدهر حسبي
O turns of fate, enough for me
يا هلالا يبدو لتهتاج نفسي
O crescent moon, you appear to delight my soul
وصبا ذووه إلى جناب عدوه
His youth poured towards his enemy's side,
فإن عصير الثمار الثجير
For the juice of ripe fruits
الورد بين مضمخ ومضرج
The rose between saturated and drenched
يا من له رتب ممكنة
O You who has possible ranks
رعى الرحمن قوما ملكوني
The Merciful shepherded a people who possessed me
لما وضعت صحيفتي
When I placed my letter
أراني الله وجهك كل يوم
May God show me your face every day
أقسمت بالله لا ينفك مغتفرا
I swore by God, he will not cease to pardon
وحمدا لمولى استمد بحمده
And praise to the Master who draws by His praise
وكأن فطنته شهاب ثاقب
