1. If lack of wealth keeps me sitting still,
Yet I am no less active in gaining virtues high;

2. Nor do I indulge in baseness or ignorance,
Nor cease rewarding a friend with kindness warm and dry.

3. I requite my brother's love a hundred fold,
And sacrifice my all to please my Master divine.

4. A friend is not a friend, that in prosperity
Forsakes me when disaster and woes are mine.
