To hide whispered conversations held amongst them

11. Verily favors, meanings, dew,
And valor - no matter how excellent - are fruitless

12. Unless the sweet-tongued, sublime poet
Is called to the high pursuits of expression

13. The skillful, dignified poet responded
"Here I am, obedient and superior"

14. He gathered meaning, valor, decency
And continual, protected rhythm

15. The sun of love refuses to dim its light
Dispelling the darkness entirely

16. How much wisdom he expressed and how much purpose
He showed the seekers, enlightening them

17. They found him a gentle garden on days of intimacy
And saw him stalwart when desires lost hope

18. Reaching that which nothing surpasses
The most lofty and preeminent

19. Whoever denies the virtue I was granted
Is blind, denying the observable

20. In the palace of Kisra the Persian, one saw only a part
Never imagining he could count its pavement tiles

21. The heart I have is more resolute than its lifelong master
No matter how you describe him, superior
