The soul, the fragrance, and the brimming cup.

6. O you, the magnificent seventh, have mercy on one
Whose meanings, lovesick, your blossoming meadow frequent.

7. Beyond your range, no range exists for the smitten one,
Beyond your spring, no spring or fount can be found.

8. How many dawns have come to your door, their
Tresses trailing - for this matter leaves some perplexed.

9. And how many whom fate had left confused,
Became, through you, cured and soaked with dew.

10. How many a pole of your crescent, O my wish,
My clouds and rain - when the course became immense - did seek.

11. And each sees what the mind falls short describing,
For upon you is a cloak, all-covering.

12. O Kaaba of hearts, below you one whose
Crimes reveal him as utterly troubled.

13. O sun of this universe, O Kaaba of all wants,
Save one whose meaning has, through distance, been fettered.

14. O you, the height of glory and knowledge,
Have mercy on my heart, for it is pleading.

15. O morning of time, O grantor of wishes,
A heart that time has kept aloft, your rain inscribing.

16. O isthmus between two seas, below you a lover
Seeks intentions that the warbler cannot hope to tell.

17. And it is shameful, that you who all things encompass
Should face one weak, pleading, who came to ask.

18. Is it not strange that you showed mercy to one crazed in love,
Who sees no door but yours at which to plead?

19. Is it not strange that you sharpened your sword,
While I, so frail, face those who would repel me?

20. Is it not strange that your generosity overflowed,
Nurturing, above all you see, one chained?

21. O seal of this age, O dot made
Royal by all letters, with a crown encircled.

22. I hope in you, for I am tender through your tenderness,
Submitting life itself, perhaps you will accept.

23. Though he cannot deem baseness seemly in passion,
He will forever endure what comes from you.
