1. The hidden association of the self is an eternal affliction in journeying,
And be thou in solitude, but make your sustenance in giving.

2. If you seek to reveal beauty in the cloister,
Purify yourself with the water of mystery, if you possess an interior life;

3. Otherwise, perform the dry ablution with dust or rocks.
Return to the most sublime retreat, and conclude

4. Its seal, and settle in the valley of intimacy - pitch its tents.
And think on the witnessing of Truth, hold fast its bridle,

5. And take as your imam whom you were the imam of.
Perform the mid-afternoon prayer at the start of noon -

6. The prayer of witnessing the Most High in their love,
In the presence of the lights of witnesses in their nearness.

7. Purify yourself from all creation, be guided to their drink.
For this is the prayer of knowers with their Lord.

8. So if you are of them, sprinkle goodness into the sea.
