1. Stand atop a hill in Mount Lebanon
And say, "Peace upon a land and its people."

2. A land, if rainwatered, nearly
Transforms into pearls and coral.

3. O people of Lebanon, your Lebanon is no mere mountain
Rather it's the pinnacle of glory and prestige.

4. In it are the eminent tribes, the lords of virtues
The portal of feats in glory and grace.

5. A principality that has soared within it
And a chieftainship that took root since ancient times

6. A refuge of plagues and a refuge of heat, sought
By the stricken, both near and far.

7. And a refuge of the afflicted from every illness
With good water, air, and neighbors.

8. And in its verdant orchards is whatever
You wish for other than palms and pomegranates.

9. And in its caves lies ice, hidden
In cold and irrigation for the hot and thirsty.

10. Of permafrost carrying the cold it transports
And melting carrying irrigation through its channels.

11. And in the lowlands are vast plains watered
Bearing fruit and branches.

12. And its people have, of comfort and tranquility,
What one needs to be called human.

13. And of noble manners stripped
Of affectation in elderly and youth.

14. Where European modernity has not reached,
Thank God, He is the Ultimate.

15. So there are no two tongues in Lebanon, no,
But each has eyes—not two.

16. No wickedness or spite or words
That mar the ears.

17. No commerce so urgent
One forgets oneself, let alone the brethren.

18. And commerce runs, as principles require
A friend minds not his friend when able.

19. Each guest that has arrived is received
With utmost care and hospitality.

20. And everything is easy, taking it
Smoothly amid assets and commodities.

21. And carriages run paved
Despite its rugged terrain between valleys and dunes.

22. And he who seeks modernity finds it
In some villages of fine workmanship.

23. And unity and integration however you desire
While next to cities and countries.

24. And beyond that, qualities galore remain
Adorning it in splendid glory.

25. This is the beloved homeland—mention it!
And I am no disregarder of love for homelands.
