1. He whose soul delights in striking
Blow by blow, like the rubbing of fire sticks,

2. Let him come to a lioness whetting her swords
Between al-Mudhad and the cleft of the trench.

3. They were blinded by the striking of the Believers and so submitted
Themselves sincerely to the Lord of the East.

4. In a party that gave victory to the Believers and so surrendered
Themselves sincerely to the Lord of the East.

5. In every long robe whose extra length it trails
Like an announcement, its wind blew gently.

6. White, solid, as if its coarse wool
Was made by the skill of ostriches, of reliable knots.

7. A debate aroused by an insistent organizer
With a clear, keen, and elegant blade.

8. Such, with piety, is our attire
On the day of alarm and each moment of truth.

9. We sharpen the swords if we fall short in our steps,
And join them if they do not reach.

10. The enemies have not met the like of our meeting
On the day of success as we stood at the trench.

11. You see the skulls shining, their foreheads
Smeared with palms as if created for wringing necks.

12. We meet the enemy with a terrible glory
That drives away the hordes like aiming at the horizon.

13. And we prepare for the enemies every weakened
Stallion, hobbled, fettered.

14. You cast down horsemen who, when enraged,
Are like black camels, massive.

15. Trustworthy, they hold the reins of their camels
Beneath the turban cloth, twisted and tearing.

16. God has ordered tying them against His
Enemy in war―truly, God is the best granter of success―

17. To be a fury to the foe and a protection
For the abode, if the horses of calamity stampede.

18. And God, the Almighty, will aid us with a strength
From Him and the sincerity of patience when we meet.

19. And we obey the command of our Prophet and respond to him
And when he calls to an expedition we do not hesitate.

20. And whenever he summons us to adversities, we come to them,
And whenever he sees fervor in them, we become enflamed.

21. Whoever follows the word of the Prophet, truly He
Is obeyed among us in command, truly proven trustworthy.

22. Through that He grants us victory and manifests our might
And causes us to attain the fruits of that successfully.

23. Indeed, those who deny Muhammad
Have strayed and lost the path of the righteous.
