1. Weeping bitterly, she grieves with crying,
And strikes her cheek and necklace.

2. Over the death of the Prophet Muhammad,
Had she known, she would have wept only for Muhammad.

3. We were afflicted by the best of people, alive and dead,
And we brought him near the Lord of all creation on a seat.

4. And the most dreadful loss to every Muslim,
And the greatest among all people in every way.

5. If the word was from him, it was divinely guided,
And had he lived, he would be an ever-renewing light.

6. Indeed, his virtues inherited glory and piety,
None received them except the rightly-guided guide.
