1. Your worries kept you awake, sleep was disrupted
And I feared that exuberant youth had vanished
١. طَرَقَتْ هُمومُكَ فالرقادُ مسهَّدُ
وَجَزِعْتُ أَنْ سُلِخَ الشَّبابُ الأَغْيَدُ
2. And your heart was tempted by passion in secrecy
Your passion overpowered you, and your friends enabled it
٢. وَدَعَتْ فؤادَكَ للهَوَى ضمْريَّةٌ
فهواكَ غوريٌّ وصَحْبُكَ مُنْجِدُ
3. So stop persisting in misguidance while aware
You used to seek misguidance enthusiastically
٣. فدَعِ التَّمادِيَ في الغَوايَةِ سادِراً
قَدْ كُنْتَ في طَلَبِ الغَوايَةِ تُفْنَدُ
4. It would befit you to refrain willingly
Or wake up when the guide admonishes you
٤. وَلَقَدْ أَنَى لَكَ أنْ تناهَى طائِعاً
أو تَسْتَفيقَ إذا نهاكَ المْرشِدُ
5. And I was threatened by Hamza's loss with great sorrow
That made my insides tremble continuously
٥. وَلَقَدْ هُدِدْتُ لفَقْدِ حَمْزَةَ هُدَّةً
ظَلَّتْ بَناتْ الجَوْفِ مِنْها تَرْعُدُ
6. And if Hiraa had lost one like him
You would have seen its rocks fragmenting
٦. وَلَوَ أنَّهُ فَجِعَتْ حِراءُ بمِثْلِهِ
لَرَأَيْتَ رأسَي صَخْرِها يَتَبَدَّدُ
7. An obstinate one established in Hashim's sanctuary
Where prophethood, bounty, and goodness originate
٧. قَرْمٌ تَمَكَّنَ في ذُؤابَةِ هاشِمٍ
حَيْثُ النُّبُوَّةُ والنَّدَى والسُّؤْدُدُ
8. The barren mountain when winds blow
Becomes so cold water nearly freezes
٨. والعاقِرُ الكُومَ الجِلادَ إذا غَدَتْ
ريحٌ يكادُ الماءُ مِنها يُجْمُدُ
9. The one who leaves his arched bow on days of war
While the enemy approaches with purpose
٩. والتارِكُ القِرْنَ الكَميَّ مُجَدَّلاً
يَوْمَ الكَرِيهَةِ والقَنا يَتَقَصَّدُ
10. You see him clad in iron armor as if
He is solid with firm joints and a strong frame
١٠. وتَراهُ يَرْفُلُ في الحديدِ كَأَنَّهُ
ذُو لِبْدَةٍ شَثْنُ البراثِنِ أَرْبَدُ
11. The Prophet's uncle, his chosen one
Who restored purity to that watering place
١١. عَمُّ النبيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَصَفِيُّهُ
وَردَ الحِمامَ فطابَ ذاكَ المَوْرِدُ
12. And met his death while defending the Prophet
Among martyrs who supported him dutifully
١٢. وَأَتَى المَنِيَّةَ مُعَلِماً في أُسْرَةٍ
نَصَرُوا النبيَّ ومِنْهُمُ المسْتَشْهِدُ
13. I wish the enemies who were given tidings with his death
Would die feeling an unquenched bitterness
١٣. ولَقَدْ إخالُ بذاكَ هِنْداً بُشِّرَتْ
لتُميتَ داخِلَ غُصَّةٍ لا تَبْرُدُ
14. Due to how we routed them with spears
On a day when good fortune deserted them
١٤. مِمّا صَبَحْنَا بالعَقَنْقَلِ قَوْمَها
يوماً تَغيَّبَ فيهِ عَنْها الأَسْعَدُ
15. At Badr's well when Gabriel
Turned back their faces under our banner and Muhammad
١٥. وبِبِئرِ بَدْرٍ إذْ يَرُدُّ وُجُوهَهُمْ
جِبْريلُ تَحْتَ لوائِنا وَمُحَمَّدُ
16. Until I saw their heads before the Prophet
As two halves we kill and repel at will
١٦. حَتَّى رأيتُ لَدَى النَّبيِّ سَراتَهُمْ
قِسْمَيْنِ يَقتُلُ مَنْ نَشاء وَيطْرُدُ
17. Seventy chiefs of them remained in the valley
Including Utbah and Al-Aswad
١٧. فأقامَ بالعَطَنِ المُعَطَّنِ مِنْهُمُ
سَبْعون عتبةُ مِنْهمُ والأسْوَدُ
18. And we dealt Ibn Mughirah a fatal strike
With spraying blood from his neck's vein
١٨. وابنُ المغيرَةِ قَدْ ضَرَبْنا ضَرْبَةً
فوقَ الوريدِ لها رَشاشٌ مُزْبِدُ
19. And Uyyah Al-Jumahi steadied his stance
With a sword gripped by the faithful forcefully
١٩. وَأُيَّةُ الجُمَحيُّ قَوَّمَ مَيْلَهُ
عَضْبٌ بأيدي المؤمنينَ مُهَنَّدُ
20. So their defeated king came to you as if they were
Ostriches scattered by horses speedily
٢٠. فأتاكَ فَلُّ المشرِكينَ كَأَنَّهُمْ
والخيلُ تَثْفُنُهمْ نَعامٌ شُرَّدُ
21. Vast is the difference between one who in Hell resides forever
And one who in Gardens is eternally blissful
٢١. شتَّانَ مَنْ هُوَ في جَهَنَّمَ ثاوياً
أبداً وَمَنْ هُوَ في الجِنانِ مخلَّدُ
