1. Keep me away from the love of wine,
And spare me the questions of Ibn Salam.

2. What business have I with fasting
When the month of fasting has come upon the Muslims?

3. Abandoning jihad, hajj, umrah and what is permitted, desiring what is forbidden,
Serve me, O cup-bearer, a cup mixed with rainwater,

4. Standing between destruction and immorality,
Dancing in prayer behind the imam.

5. I do not seek what is lawful because
I have found the unlawful to be better food.

6. We have been enriched by a pound over all rights,
So for this reason Satan holds my halter.
