1. The man of purpose is not the one whose steps
Are dogged by changing fortune night and day—
١. وليسَ المَرْءُ ذو العَزَماتِ إِلاَّ
فَتىً تَلْقَاهُ كلَّ غَدٍ بلاد
2. Rather, it is the one whose intrepid soul
Storms through life’s battlefields without delay,
٢. فَتى يَنْصَب في صَدْرِ الفَيافي
كَما يَنْصَبُّ في المُقَلِ الرُّقَادُ
