1. A tribal dog, and a dog is better than
All the sons Hawwa bore, be they Arabs or not.

2. You reviled us, though never in Uhud
Did we fail, nor in Mu'tah when faith was yet green.

3. The morn of Mu'tah, pagans drank deep;
Faith was limp, no strength left, no vigor or vim.

4. And the day of Siffin, after days so harsh,
How much blood was shed for faith, after blood so grim!

5. In Euphrates, for Al Sibt we were left as
Meat, limbs strewn, moist flesh on dry bone, so slim.

6. When the ostrich of piety tucked in her feathers,
And the thunder of truth yelled its warning, its threat.

7. If my face is clouded, โtis but blood of ours
That was shed; we poured ours to defend the true dream.

11. How they held forth their noble hands, white as pearls,
To doom, after glory of all they had been!
