1. I toil over meaning.. and the rhyme keeps me up at night
And I delight in the sweet wounding of verse

2. And to mixing the ink of my pen with the blood of my fingers
Becomes for me a meaning hidden from people

3. I have meanings of poetry that touch and flare up
You have not wounded enough with your poetry

4. And if it does not touch the heart.. feeling and passion
Do not think you have written it on the sands of al-Sawafi

5. Do not assume the sea is just wave and oar
You see little of the sea is afloat
