2. Fair maidens or graceful women
Strolling around its elegant sides?

3. They frolic like gazelles
Sweeter than honey they are

4. When they smiled at Yusuf
He who saw them took off his clothes

5. The flames of love played with him
He cried "My people, it's a fire!"

6. They covered him with many veils
He who was sweeter than jasmine

7. Seeing what's underneath them
Of faces that transcend moons

8. The eyelids with their glances
Build castles or palaces

9. Magic has created the most wondrous
In their eyes, the clearest path

10. They wrap around their waists
Arms like iron bars

11. Connected to wings
That flutter upon a sturdy heart

12. The heads lean upon heads
With the electricity of the new age

13. And the dance reveals the chastity
And God knows best the truth

14. They danced to the melody of the lute
And the singing of beautiful boys

15. And the tunes of the first regiments
Who asked for safety from the locusts

16. Despite them having opened the countries
To the edge of India

17. They are the harsh-hearted
But here, always gentle

18. Circling upon rosy cheeks
With the purity of a lovesick teardrop

19. Until when the head was intoxicated
The body started to sway

20. He nearly fell, but
Was saved by the pulling of the boy

21. Who supported him with his shoulders
And leaned over him like a brother

22. Is it emeralds under the tents
Or a carpet of plants?

23. Adorned by the hands of girls
And made more beautiful

24. Green lanterns upon which
The leaves bow down weeping

25. Or are those dishes that
Eternally radiate light?

26. Oh, or stars, when they rose
From the windows of the sky

27. And saw my pearls strewn
Across the earth, brimming with light

28. They were infatuated and fell down in shock
Seeking the truth of the matter

29. Until when they reached the water of my river
They touched the bottom, drowned

30. How many flowers wish to witness
A stream of flowers beneath the water

31. From the reflected lights elevated
A river meandering in coils

32. Confused when it finds the ground
Seeming like the horizons of space

33. And thus it closes its eye
To unravel profound mysteries

34. I have never seen a garden like you
In whose shade thrones were erected

35. Like Charlemagne's palace
Or like Khusrow's with these carvings

36. Is this Avalon? Or is it
Something else entirely?
