1. You transported the gardens of Damascus
To Egypt with your poetry before the spring

2. And imagined in it the breeze of meadows
So you pictured for the soul those lands

3. You adorned it with the finest meanings
And decorated it with excellent style

4. And infused in it the nectar of rhetoric
So its reader became fruitful and the listener

5. And brought its understanding closer to the mind
So the content child inclined toward it

6. And that is of the miracles of poetry
And the heights of speech and wonders of rhetoric

7. So to God you are and what you excel at
And to God you are and what you can do

8. And to God is your composition among compositions
And to God is your merit among all
