1. Tell the one whose hand I clasped
And for whom I rose with the vigor of a lion

2. I stumbled upon every prey of my family
With pure, eminent lineage

3. I met them with the fangs of every cultured one
With truthful palms and sharp blade of every polished sword

4. I disobeyed the elders of my family for him
And obeyed my generosity and affection for him

5. O you who severed the womb-ties that bound me
Inscribed in the celestial sphere with knotting

6. You directed at me words of reproach
That came like arrows aiming at struggle

7. Do you speak words about me, whose entirety
Is justice if appraised, and aggression if assumed

8. If you defame my honest kinsmen
Then be patient, for your honor will surely burn

9. My uncle is your father, and my father your uncle
Your ancestry surpasses that of every noble born

10. Courageous and magnificent like lions prowling
And the roaring current of the turbulent Euphrates

11. They inherited valor and benevolence from a father
Whose battles provided refuge for the persecuted

12. The just king, the supported with piety
Sword of God against the rebels, Muhammad

13. They overpowered the summits of kingdoms which became
Submissive, and never rebelled against their command

14. I and you meet at a pinnacle
Of glory loftier than any tomb

15. Through them we reached the highest celestial orbit
So why do you meddle with the low and vile?

16. Let the eloquent sword of my words defend
Your honors with its flaming, sharpened blade

17. For it is what forged the crown of your pride
With strands of pearls and emerald

18. And if you have singled me out for what you say
I will prove the truth of the supported claim

19. I am the one whose beautiful manners are renowned
For known good deeds and praised words

20. All people know that I
Descend from the exceptional house of Shaadh

21. My home and self are in sublime deeds a sign
Like the shooting star you touch with your hand

22. Generous when the wealthy of a group are stingy
Towards my condition, my finesse, and my wealth

23. I approach kings, numerous in my crisis
Fearing and in a bare year

24. My home, when a freeman fears or hopes
Is the inviolable sanctuary of the needy

25. The fortress of the outcast, if preventing him is difficult
From fear of the mass of soldiers, supported

26. I shelter the exiled, and give provision to those who prevent me
I appease my enemies and have mercy on those who envy me

27. Generosity and munificence are intrinsic to the gallant man
Not abundance of gentle mounts or serfs

28. Not everyone miserly is stingy by God!
Nor is everyone wealthy generous and open-handed

29. How many poor are generous in their actions
While a rich man is like a parasite stripped bare

30. Thus he is bountiful, his face delighted
While the other takes, like one suffering and repelled

31. Only the weak-sighted have viewed me
With a cheerful face and destitution in my hands

32. Never have you seen me, nor do I see in my life
A day harsh towards my family, saddened

33. I am to them in adversities a servant
And a sufficient servant to them is like a master

34. I answer their call if they are encumbered
Publicly with my voice amidst clamoring darkness

35. With my kindness I protect them volunteering
From every misery, present or imposed

36. I ransom them if they are fought and support them
If they are needy, and bring them affection

37. O you who embarrass me with words, by God
To whose might the foreheads of prostrators yield

38. Had I not feared the words of estrangement from you
I would have cast your mouth with defiant words

39. But I am one who fears the remorse
Of a rash act that makes me drink lethal poison

40. May your Lord guide you to what you hope
That we would see you do every upright deed

41. To restore the cheerful, serene face of the king
And reunite the kinship without dispersion

42. So days do not see us as an opportunity
For outsiders, and a laugh for the envious

43. This house still lofty in building
Shines with successive glories after glories

44. Where sons inherit glory from their fathers
As a bequest throughout the passing days

45. To be a horde for Christ, with whom He rules
