1. Peace of Allah be upon you, O best of Messengers,
The clear revelation came to him from the best Sender,

2. To you we rode the mounts aspiring,
So the flowers would smile in your pleasure and wilt in your disdain,

3. To the best of those whose praise glorified tongues,
So the verses of the revealed Book verified them,

4. Before you, Messenger of Allah, I stood tongue-tied,
As my words fell short of eloquence’s burden,

5. And a light dazzled me, radiantly shining,
Beaming from atop your lofty shrine,

6. Awe of your glory’s grandeur deterred me from praise,
Making my heart tremble and joints quake,

7. And my knowledge that Allah endowed you with eulogy,
Whose details are in the umm al-kitaab's lines,

8. What then can praisers say with their praises,
To one whose praise ascends above all sublime?
