3. So do not boast, for Banu Qusayy’s sons
Are the foremost leaders and standards

4. And the people of repute and early columns
With the generous ranked first among them

5. They gave Quraysh their dwellings in Mecca
While it has no system on its own

6. So do not boast about a people you are not from
For your tribe are the despised villains

7. When the pure-breds of Quraysh are counted
You are relegated to the margins in shame

8. Qusaymah your mother, if you attribute her
To a lineage, the generous abhor it
