1. How many homes have months and circumstances
As the era of the worn-out palace fades

2. With the flat land below the cotton wick
So the winds blow upon deserted traces

3. They have been lit with its pebbles, what a blaze!
What Allah decides comes without worrying

4. And I sit generously, serene and at ease
What do some people try with their actions

5. When a fool still has present worries
I know my nature prevails over me

6. Quarrelsome and bold, with plenty of wealth
And money inundates people with no chef

7. Like a flood inundating rotten tree trunks
I protect my honor with my money, not degrade it

8. May Allah not bless money over honor
I scheme for money if it brings me down

9. But I don’t scheme for honor if it makes me fall
And poverty flows into people of lineage

10. And the origins of scoundrels are imitated
How many trusted brothers were my partners

11. I left without bidding farewell or even speaking
He was like a full moon closing a gap

12. So the gap was left empty without him
Then I got over it with no worries
