1. A man may pass the night and see the morn
Secure from men's assaults, save what's foredoomed;
١. إِنَّ اِمرَأً أَمسى وَأَصبَحَ سالِماً
مِنَ الناسِ إِلّا ما جَنى لِسَعيدُ
2. And he in easy plenty may be drowned,
Yet neither kith nor kin afford him calm;
٢. وَإِنَّ اِمرَأً نالَ الغِنى ثُمَّ لَم يُنِل
قَريباً وَلا ذا خُلَّةٍ لَزَهيدُ
3. And he may war on men in prideful mood,
Yet not implore from Allah wealth and weal.
٣. وَإِنَّ اِمرَأً عادى الرِجالَ عَلى الغِنى
وَلَم يَسأَلِ اللَهَ الغِنى لَحَسودُ
