1. Quraysh knew well the day they faced us
At Badr, when captives fell and battle raged-

2. That we are men who, when the stallions stampede,
Defend their fillies on the day of Abū Walīd.

3. We slew the sons of Rabī‘ah when they came
Against us multiplying sharpened swords.

4. With them fled Ḥakīm when the tribe of Najjār
Charged like lions - he deserted them far off.

5. Then rallied the tribes of Fihār and fled,
Abandoned by al-Ḥuwairith from afar.

6. You met dishonor and humiliation then
A lasting shame that seeps into your veins

7. As all the tribes had turned and fled away
No longer firm in their ancestral claim.
