1. Great indeed was the calamity that befell us
We were struck by the vicissitudes of fate and time

2. Yearning for them on the bridge the day of the bridge
Oh how my soul yearns for the fallen on the bridge

3. Men say why does Hassân weep
Why should I not weep for the blossoms of youth

4. Why should I not weep for the best of young men
Whose blood flowed crimson at Baroshma

5. For I shall weep as long as I live
If the dead weep for the dead, my tears at the grave would drown me

6. I yearn for the finest Al-Sulayt and his comrades
I yearn for the lion of Al-Gharif, Abi Jabir

7. His dignified attire turned white though youthful
When the fog lifts from him he shines like the full moon

8. As if Sulayt the day he drew his sword
And Al-Harith ibn Abi Shimr cast off his mask

9. They were martyred in the month of fasting a remainder
Of seven nights, that was the night of Al-Qadr
